Our client requested that we survey 4 of its international airports to identify any discrepancies between the required aviation standards and the current on-site situation. The long-term objective was to improve specific areas of aviation security in compliance with ICAO international standards, and to determine what additional TSA measures should be implemented to establish flight routes to and from the US.
The survey was carried out across 4 international airports, and involved observations, interviews, and a physical evaluation of key security measures.
The surveys encompassed the main components of airport security operations including: deployment of manpower and technology; screening of passengers, check-in procedures, carry-on and hold baggage screening and validation; cargo screening; aircraft and airport perimeter security; airside, apron and airport structure security; and evaluation of air route traffic control centers.
BSWi produced a detailed report based on this survey that outlined any shortcomings and specified the recommended steps to be taken by the authorities. This report was used by said authorities to upgrade and improve their airport security measures.
